Take a look at the current geo charts. The 650b 56 has different HTA and rake, so different trail than the 58 700c. By this calculator with both 40mm tire width, the trail is 61 for the 650b and 68 for the 700c. http://yojimg.net/bike/web_tools/trailcalc.php
The HT slope angle is only 1/2 degree different, and the TT are within 1/2 cm. Chainstays only 1/2 cm longer for the 650B.Seat tube angle is 1/2 degree shallower too, so that has to be factored in. All in all it adds up to "a different feel", everything all yet one whole. Plus, it's not set up the same as your other bike, is it ?
