Oddly enough, it appears to have an English cousin, in the current
adjective "bosky", shaded, from the Middle English "bosk", bush.

*Our* bosque is a very pleasant interval in our high desert landscape
(which has its own severe beauty). I was *very* fortunate, 14 years ago, to
find an affordable duplex in a very pretty little infill project right
smack up against the bosque, less than 1/2 mile west of the Big River. I
can climb over my wall in be among deciduous trees, something rather rare
here in the high desert.
