I generally carry a similar basic kit for all my road bikes: two tubes, Quik Stik, multi tool of some sort but always including 4, 5 and 6 mm allens, and pump, frame except for Lezyne mini with the gofast. I add more tools including chain tool and chain link to some kits, particularly the mtb.
These all go in little seat packs or (I hope, soon, for the Riv commuter) a small bar bag. (Ryan: depending on tomorrow morning's work email, perhaps I'll come by for the mounting devices) but I like the flexibility of light rack and panniers, since I can vary my baggage for the load which, at this time of year, can include extra clothing.
