Not an accusation, just curious, because if it is the same tire I'd
like to save the 40$ per pair by buying these.

Panaracer makes lots of different tires. One thing I absolutely do not
believe is that Compass is re-branding existing Panaracer tires. Let me
suggest you buy one of each and compare them.
