leslie,
my tournesol( a hampsten brand) is very similar to a roadeo. lugged
steel, 43cm. chainstays, 72deg sta. but,the dimensions are a little
different, 60.5 ct seat tube and 57ctc toptube. the bike is not really
designed to carry loads and uses short reach brakes ( i still use
700x28 grand bois tires ). my hampsten is ti and has the same
dimensions, but is designed around long reach brakes and can fit much
larger tires. both are custom and are designed for me. they ride great
and the workmanship and paint are flawless. when you compare the level
of craftsmanship to other brands, they're hard to beat. i started with
the dimensions of my 60cm. ram and just tweaked the numbers here and
there. and steve hampsten designed the bikes around those paremeters
and my weight and type of riding. it takes a while for the lugged
steel bikes, but if you have the time, its sure worth it. i have seen
a few custom rivs and it would be hard to choose between the two.
