I have Berthoud fenders on three bikes. I also have hammered Honjos on another bike. I prefer the Berthouds - I think they look nicer, and the struts are definitely superior to any others that I've seen. If you ride off a kerb, the Berthoud mudflap folds up out of the way without any damage. I've accidentally done the same with the Honjos, and the bottom of the front fender crunches into the concrete kerb and gets bent. I can also put a Berthoud-fendered bike on a roofrack carrier that clamps the front fork dropouts - the mudflap again just folds out of the way. With Honjo fenders, the fender has to be removed before fitting the bike on the carrier.
My commute bike has had the same pair of Berthoud fenders on it for about 20 years, and they're still holding up without any problem. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
