You can definitely use the same front derailer IF your biggest chainring remains approximately the same size.
If you are changing from a 48-36-24 to something like a 40-26, then you'd want to be able to lower your front derailer a lot to get close to that 40T ring. The tail-end of your triple front der will likely hit the chainstay. ANY double-compatible road der should work great. Like really anything. Old Shimano or Suntour road front ders are a dime a dozen and virtually any of them would work great with Silver Barend shifters.
