I too attended the Nutmeg Nor'Easter. It was fantastic connecting with so
many Riv friends. In addition to existing friends I met Anton with the
orange Cheviot with Bosco Bars, my friend Al from Saratoga had the other
orange Cheviut. I met Alex from Yellow Haus bikes with his very cool MIT
Atlantis. I met a guy named Mike who moved East from San Francisco. He had
an Atlantis that he had converted to disc brakes. It was such an awesome
looking bike. Mike had stories of riding with Will, Roman, Kevan, Spencer
and Jay. Ronaldo Romance was a most gracious host. He and his fellow
Nutmeg Country Emissaries where so kind and gracious welcoming us into
their back yard with open arms. My weapon of choice was my Albatross'd 2TT
Sam Hillborne. Next year I'll ride my Appaloosa just to have the luxury of
fatter tires on some of the more rugged off road sections.

What made this rice enjoyable to me was the people I got to hang out with.
I don't go to cycling events anymore because they have become to much like
a race. This was not that at all. Super fun yet challenging course, a beer
stop along the way, idyllic New England coastal towns and low traffic.
There were no egos, no testosterone fueled pacelines and nobody demanding
that I perform a certain way. Just a bunch of bike camping/ commuting/rando
loving, normal clothes wearing bike nerds. In other words people just like
me! The icing on the cake was the amazing wood fired pizza after party
served under a gorgeous sunset over the Long Island Sound. This was one of
the best days I have spent on a bike ever! I hope this event continues
into the future.
