I have in the past been distressed* to notice that my times on at least many rides over similar hilly routes were as fast or almost so on the 30+-lb Fargo with Big Apple tires as on the 18 lb Riv fixed gofast. I put this down to the fact that while climbing on the fixie was considerably faster, going down was faster on the Fargo by an even greater margin. ~20 mile rides with numerous 1/2 to 1-mile long climbs; say 5 miles of climbing overall. (Northern Rio Rancho.)
*Now* I am distressed to find (or think I find; haven't bothered to time closely) that my Matthews with 20 psi 700C X 60 Big Ones is as fast on the flats as my Rivs, which I put down to similar riding position and excessively excellent rolling qualities of the Big Ones. *Situational irony and verbal irony. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
