I have a cheviot and i can't imagine getting much more clearance with cantilevers, at least not enough to go through the hassle of getting studs brazed on and re-painted, not to mention shipping this long frame. I recommend just getting a Clem L, whether it's in addition to or instead of the cheviot. I have both and I think they are different enough.
