One of the things I love and am amused by with images like this is you only get a feel for how steep this is because of the effort going into the bike. Same hill, somehow ridden by a relaxed rider, looks un-steep. Flat hill, shot pushing a bike with grunting effort, looks steep. Steep is really hard to photograph where the terrain reveals how steep it is, independent of the subjects grunting and grinning. In this age of “looking good” for the photo, it’s all down to the integrity of the subject and photographer as to how steep most steep photos are. Sardonic grin. This? Steep. No doubts as to the integrity of subject or photographer.
