It appears to be a compromise and a good one at that. Bravo Grant ! A
23 mm with a fender isn't so bad, especially in the rain, if you are
under 170 pounds, which many are.
 I sold a really nice carbon forked bike to friend and I'd like to get
him one. I'll sleep better at night knowing he is riding a steel
fork.
