I have several leather saddles on various bikes. For example I have a
vintage brooks B17 Pro, and a vintage a Ideale model 90. I try to take
really good care of them. I have covers for rain and I use Obenaufs LP. As
well as occasional Proofhide or Martexin Wax. These are older saddles. No
idea how old the brooks is but suspect the Ideale is over 40.

So even though they never get rained on this time of year the get really
wet from sweat from my shorts on long hot rides. I’m noticing it’s harder
to maintain the integrity of the surface of the saddle, the shiny outer
layer. These are really becoming well adapted to my anatomy but I don’t
want to ruin them.

Any ideas?

John
