So I've had my Quickbeam for 6 or 8 weeks and am really loving it. I purchased the frame used and had most of the parts just laying around. The wheels I bought new from Universal Cycles (Salsa rims, XT front hub, Surly fixed/free rear). The frame is a 64cm and looked huge when I first got it but fits perfect now that I've got the right stem size. I originally had a 10cm but went down to a 9cm.
I've gotten in a fair amount of rides on it with 3 of them being over 50 miles. The bike is great and I really love it. I still need to fuss with the fenders but for the most part I think I'm going to leave it as is for now. Initially I had SPDs on it but put on some MKS touring pedals which I really like and will leave on the bike for a while. I'm enjoying pedaling free. Today I went on a 50+ mile ride out to the Crown Point on the Columbia River Gorge. There were a few showers but for the most part I stayed dry. I think this was one of my longest rides pedaling free. I also eschewed the bib knickers I normally wear for some MUSA knickers, a Smartwool LS shirt and a wool jersey. I have a feeling I'll be pedaling in this kit more frequently in the coming months. I don't mind bibs and SPDs but this is just a nice change. Here's a picture of the QB at Crown Point. http://www.flickr.com/photos/41335...@n00/4479752019/ --mike -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
