Building bikes designed to last a lifetime, like Rivendell does, is the right thing to do--but it's not what pays the bills best. I wonder if it wouldn't be in Riv's best interest to offer consignment used Rivendells / trade ins for new frames in order to get a portion of the proceeds from the sale of used Rivs - which basically sell themselves anyway!
