As I said in my other post, I lost my Lezyne Road Drive this afternoon. Upon more consideration, I didn't leave it at the site of the crime, instead I stuck it in the side pocket of the Camper and forgot to buckle the strap. I recalled hearing a "tinkling thump" -- if those terms are not contradictions -- toward the latter third of my ride, and indeed, after returning home, went back over that last third -- but, alas, without success.
I've used very many mini- and frame pumps in many years of cycling, and, for a pump that can fit into one of the larger saddle wedges -- mine are ~9" long; they make a 7" and a 12" model -- the Road Drive is the best mini I've used. It will get 90 psi into a 23 easily, and it will get 60 psi into a 28 with fewer than 300 strokes; but these are very, very easy and very, very fast strokes. And, you can hold it comfortably without pinching your hand with the pump handle -- a defect I've found with several minis. Finally, mine have or had the pressure release buttons near the screw-on chuck. But I bought my last Road Drive circa 3 years ago, and they were already several years on the market at that time. So: what are the best minipumps for 28-to-32 mm tires that you pump to as much as 65 psi? Any real challengers to the Road Drive? Hose or chuck, it don't matter, as long as they seal well on the valve, don't break the valve stem, get a tire to 90 psi without cursing, and are durable -- which last I take to mean, made from metal; tho' I'm open to plastic if proven tough. Patrick Moore, who recalls the horror of trying to pump 120 psi into a Specialized Fatboy with a first edition Blackburn Airstick or somesuch.
