I have a Clem L 52cm and a Susie 56cm and I agree that the Susie would be
more than capable of standing in for the Clem. It would also allow for a
slightly wider tire. The reason I didn't suggest it was that the Susie is
2x the cost of a Clem. This is what makes the Clem so great, a lifetime
frame and fork that can do most of the stuff most people will want to do on
a bicycle for $900. Since Ryan does tend to experiment quite a bit, he may
not want to go all in for a Susie. At $1,800 for a fillet-brazed frame and
fork, an attractive deal in its own right. IMO, you can't go wrong with
either of these Hillibike models. I consider them to be among the most
useful bicycles on the planet.
