Patrick's right. There's a 25Mb limit on messages, so you probably need to reduce the file size (not the display size) of your photos. Google could do a better job with error messages, but I think they'd rather just kill off Google groups, but too many people use it. FWIW, I disagree with Patrick. I much prefer inline images, as long as they're properly formatted for the medium.
