Doug, I use Silver 2 shifters with 9-speed Rapid Rise RDs. The cable pull length/ratio changes when I pull to the smallest cogs. From the largest gear to, say, the fifth cog down, the cable pull amount is about the same from gear to gear. Going further down the sprocket definitely requires more cable pull.
