I've tried the Microshift Advent 1x9 on a modern entry level mountain bike and thought it performed really well, especially for the price. The shifter doesn't feel amazing and I don't love the look, but the value is hard to beat. Indexing felt great and the clutch did its job on singletrack. I'd definitely use it on a future build.
