A friend and I rode the EST from Rochester to Albany just a couple of weeks
ago. We were both sporting fenders, and I was glad to have them because (1)
it poured down rain for about an hour or so on one of our days and (2)
fenders kept the dust/dirt kicked up on the unpaved sections off of my legs
and body. For a very flat course, the fender weight penalty didn’t really
matter.
