Tenth Diablo Summit of 2024 happened today. I've summited Diablo every
month of the year and on ten different bikes. Today I rode the world's
best road bike, my Ebisu All Purpose, and it was indeed the easiest of the
ten, so far. The easiness of the climb probably had mostly to do with me
taking it easy. I like to think that part of it was also that this time I
did not have the handlebar tyrant of my GPS unit either. I recorded the
ride with my watch, but didn't really look at it. It was more of a screen
less experience ("raw-dog" as the tech recoiling kids put it). It was very
smart of me to put my October summit off til now, because the first part of
the month was blazing hot. Today it maxed out at 80, which is totally
manageable.
