Nick, I guess there is no doubt where the areas of most contact are for 
you! 
Interesting, as it is opposite of what I usually see with my brown saddles; 
darker with age in the areas with greater contact, because of sweat I 
suppose. 
I like the "patinated" look that is even nicer than out-of-the-box.
