+ 1 for the Naches Pass; I use the extralight with sealant in the lightest butyl tubes I can find.
Still the same bike (2020 Matthews IGH integrated fenders/racks/lights, clone of an earler 26” wheel Riv road custom) with the ineffably light (175 gram), supple, and fast (feeling) Elk Pass feels easier to pedal and certainly more nimble. But the NPs (360 gram, els) are fast (feeling) enough that the compromise is worthwhile for the pothole protection, this on a bike designed for errands and commuting. On another scale but illustrating the same principle: the earlier Matthews build for fat 700C tires and fenders certainly rolled well with the ultralight 450 gram 60 mm Big Apples but wallowed or felt awkward in turns. 360 gram 48 mm Soma Supple Vitesse Superlights and regular casing 48 mm Oracle Ridge knobbies (540 grams?) corners far, far better — almost like my Rivs and the IGH 26” wheel Matthews. Both the Somas and the Or Ridges measure ab out 49 mm on 27 mm IW rims.
