Age and experience help draw a clear line between fixing a problem that happens out on a ride so you can get home and the one you know about and work around as a challenge before leaving home.
I've done both in the past, but I have also upped my on-bike contingent supplies and my pre-ride inspections to better my risk exposure. I've done well to have the sum of injuries that I do, and my activities not be limited by them. I am interested in limiting others if I can prevent them.
