Have you found a solution for this?
Like you, I have a chronic lower back pain and the Cane Creek Thudbuster ST 
Seatpost installed in my Hunqapillar really helped.
For reference, I previously tried the Suntour SP12 NCX Suspension Seatpost 
but found it to bouncy even with several adjustment.
The Cane Creek gave me the right balance and felt normal with the benefit 
of suspension when needed.
Now I would like to use my GBW but it requires a 26.8 seat post.
I am tempted to do Laing's solution of reaming the seat post but I would 
prefer to find other solutions first.
