John, I took the bike on a 30 mile ride today. Brakes felt great. Just as effective as when set up with the IRD levers on a swept bar. They were smooth as any caliper brake on drop levers while being more powerful. No complaints at all.

It is necessary so as to have a smooth low-friction cable run from under the hood. I had installed the cables and housing without using this noodle and could not get the brakes to return to neutral.
