Patrick Ditto - born during Ike's first term.
Like all living things, we are what we inherit, and most from my maternal grandmother, and like her, a non-smoker, non-drinker, and a life of (at least) dietary simplicity (didn't quite follow her membership in the Franciscan Third Order, which you may be familiar with, but there in spirit and lifestyle). That simplicity extends to bike simplicity (maybe the source of my affection for all things Rivendell) of one bike - but no judgment toward n+1 - however my Dutch bike *is* carbon, but with (Riv content), Newbaums, hemp twine, and a Brooks B68 (which kicks my carbon fiber Dutch bike up a half pound)! And there's plenty of former Cat 1s our age here I *cannot* hang with, one even when he's out for a ride with his wife on their tandem - even uphill! I am confident you could hang with our regular ride group. Just imagine riding without those headwinds! Lawrence, Agreed! I've always thought if something about the bike makes you feel faster, it makes you think you can go (just a little, even) faster - so maybe you do? I thought the (LeMond branded) Gravelking Slick+ 38mm tires were a little sluggish, but maybe nice for their puncture-proofing. BTW all, note that Conti-GPs are not branded, AFAIK, as tubeless. Bill You've convinced me, if unintentionally, to next try 32mm GP Contis, especially if I can find a non-tubeless set. After seeing the OPs AI-generated wheels and tires, I think a blackwall set will still fill my Dutch bike proportions just fine. Will report back, but at my mileage, it may be a bit before the 35s wear down!
