Sure, should've flagged me down. I recall getting a bit nervous when a Riv fan
in a car pulled up next to me shouting and gesturing at my Rambouillet until I
figured out he was hollering "nice bike, cool Riv!" not "Die, evil bike riding
scum!" Getting flagged by another rider is pleasant in comparison. B-)

I've done some of that route on DALMAC--nice roads indeed...

...I'll be up that way again sometime not too far in the future, maybe not this
year but soon--I really enjoyed my visit last month.

I was riding a Trek FX 7.3 that I've modified to ride like a "Country
Bike." I just started riding last year, didn't know what I know now,
but, have learned what I should have gotten in the first place and
have ordered an A. Homer Hilsen.

Although I live a bit away from the Wheelway, I am in Petoskey a few
times a week and ride the Wheelway often. I remember seeing your
handlebar bags off in the distance and was on the look out to see if
it was a Rivendell. Of course, it was your Saluki, which was my first
Rivendell sighting. I remember being in a hurry and giving you my
normal head nod that I give everyone. In hindsight, I should have
stopped anyway.

By the way, if you're in the area again and want a great ride, my
favourite in the area is starting at East Park, just West of Petoskey
on the the Wheelway, through Harbor Springs, then, riding by way of
M-119, Lower Lake Drive, back on M-119 up to Good Hart and on to Cross
Village. It's a little over 100 km round trip and takes you through
the "Tunnel of Trees" with great views of Lake Michigan. There are
many parking areas along the way if you want a shorter trip, and you
could continue another 40 km to Mackinaw City. All in all a great day
ride.
