I've just put some White Ind. mountain VBC cranks on my Bombadil. Exact same chainrings, with a different q-factor for wider mountain chain stays. 46 and 30 is exactly what I wanted for a compact double. They don't quite fall in line with Riv's philosophy (black anodized rings, chrome polished arms), but they sure do work well (and they're darn pretty to some tastes anyway). You can have your LBS order the exact combo you require, which is a nice luxury. I'd considered VO's new double, and I'm quite enamored with sugino's Mighty Tour (but that seems to be the priciest option, and my W.I. hubs helped push me to their VBC (I also have used their Eno double- double set up with much success and pleasure)). I'll post a photo or two soon.
