I've used Rivendell's original Hobo bag on the front of my Atlantis with drop bars. I added a Nitto mini front rack to support it as I tend to overload things. It didn't have enough volume and the straps on the bars kinda got in my way so I now have an Acorn Boxy Rando on the Nitto.
The chatter about front load vs rear load, and how geometry comes into play is highly personal and depends I think more on your riding style. Personally, my Atlantis handles better with more weight on the front. This is completely opposite the conventional wisdom about Rivs being rear loaders. There are plenty of photos on the Riv website as well as Cyclofiend's gallery of Rivs with humungous saddlebags, front baskets, panniers, etc. You really have to play around with your personal loads (commuting, utility, camping, touring, etc.) to see what works for you. dougP On Nov 16, 2:26 pm, "mr.trout" <ianet...@yahoo.com> wrote: > i have a carradice nelson long flap in front with drops. i use toe > straps instead of the ones that came with it for fine tuning. i ripped > the side pockets off and plan on putting them on the back of the bag, > or the part that's facing me. > main advantage is that there is a lot of room and the bag was pretty > cheap. i think it has something like 18 liters capacity. i can fit a > road morph-g along the wooden brace and load it up as full as i would > want to for a front bag. > i had cross-tops on it at one time, worked fine. i also have a stella > 150n mounted on the bars. used it with both noodles and now with deda > 215 shallows. i do use a front rack though. > only disadvantage is that the bag doesn't open towards you when on the > bike. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
