I think zip ties are the best.  You go buy the plastic container that
has like 2000 of them in all sizes and colors.  Use them at will for
everything and throw the bits in your recycling bin when you remove
them.  They go on in 5 seconds and come off in 2.  Hose clamps may
seem reusable, but if you use them to clamp perpendicular tubes to
each other like is common with basket to rack attachments, then it's
bent too much to re use, and you probably cut the end of it of anyway,
so all you can do is remove it and recycle it, just like a zip tie.
Except the hose clamp took you 5 minutes instead of 5 seconds.  Don't
fear the ziptie!  A quality bicycle with real intrinsic utilitarian
value has no room for snobbery!
