DaveI have two wheel sets with Open Pro Rims that have proven to be both
light and strong. Many, many miles on both of them. I now weigh 190 and so
use 36 in the rear and 32 in the front. Decades ago, at 170 lbs, I raced
on Open Pro rims at 32 & 28 spokes with no problems. They come in black or
silver and both look nice. I hear you about black and use to feel that way
too, but have found that some parts look fine in black.

While your at it, why not upgrade the hubs too. I moved from the Araya/ 105
combination on my Rambouillet to Open Pro / White Ind two years ago and
haven't done anything to them, other than cleaning and checking. Btw, my
Araya went pretty much like yours. I hit a curb while trying to avoid a dog.
