Fish Rock is definitely on my "to do" list for rides in that area. A very challenging ride would start in Boonville and head to the coast on Fish Rock, returning by heading north on Hwy 1 to Hwy 128.
There are also some interesting roads from Ukiah to Fort Bragg. I've ridden partway on both--Low Gap (which becomes unpaved soon after leaving town) and Orr Springs (paved, but more climbing). I'd like to do the entire loop from Ukiah to Fort Bragg to Boonville to Ukiah. That would be a great day's ride of 100+ miles with a fair amount of climbing and mostly in the backcountry. --Eric N Sent from the iPad 2 On Sep 8, 2011, at 2:16 PM, erik jensen <[email protected]> wrote: > FISH ROCK ROAD. > > no question. > > do it. > > > On Thu, Sep 8, 2011 at 1:44 PM, Eric Norris <[email protected]> wrote: > I've spent a lot of time in Boonville, and have ridden in the area a lot. > Here are some thoughts: > > If you're in Boonville, you basically have the choice of riding on Hwy 128 > (toward either the coast or Cloverdale) or heading over the coast range > (Mountain View Road, Fish Rock Road, etc.).
