If those two are the same (to your wife) then perhaps there is still room
for the Betty/Yves...!

Congratulations on your bikes!

Thanks for the advice on what to get. I ended up purchasing a Sam
Hillborne, which is what I did not put as an option. I mentioned a Gomez,
Atlantis, or Hunqa. A Sam met my requirements in a bike. The Atlantis
would have too, but John had his Quickbeam for sale that was my size. So I
went up to Rivendell and bought a Sam Hillborne. About an hour later I met
John and bought a Quickbeam. So I got a two for the price of one Atlantis.

I built up the bike and
here<http://www.flickr.com/photos/47326059@N08/6194126260/>is a glamor
shot. I know there is a little 2TT vs. 1TT debate, but I am
indifferent about the matter. It is a good looking bike either way. A few
comments about building it up. Don't forget to use something to hold in the
Bottom Bracket Tool. I was screwing down the bottom bracket and slip, clank
on the seat tube, and the yell "serenity now" (for you Seinfeld fans). I
have not even ridden the bike and it got its first paint chip. On well,
build up of character in the long run. A little Testors paint fixed the
problem. Yes, those are power grips attached to the pedals. I love those
things. Grant checked me out at when I bought them and he verified...are
you sure you want to buy these (not an exact quote)? Putting on the fenders
was not too bad except for the extra hole I drilled (oops). I was able to
cover it up with a washer. Those fenders get you every time. A Nitto big
rack would have looked more pretty than the Tubus Rack. However, I like the
lower pannier attachment capability on the Tubus. Also, the straight
attachment of the rear light with the two holes instead of one (need a extra
mount...I know its $7, but you gotta justify). It is meeting German with
German instead of German to Japanese. However, I am a little hypocritical
because I have a Shimano Dynamo Hub powering the German lights. I swapped
the wheel from my old commuter. I will get a SON in a few years or when my
wife gets over me buying two identical bikes (that is according to her...I
tried explaining the horizontal dropout and single speed compared to the
multigear to vertical dropout.pick your battles). I look forward to going
on my first commute with the Sam on Friday.

Matt
