Some of you know me, I've been a Riv fan for a long time and have
participated here for a few years but up until now I've never had a
Rivendell to call my own.

However, I decided to take the plunge and on saturday I went into Riv to
get a new frame for a fixed-gear daily driver. I was thinking a 62cm
SimpleOne would do the trick even though it's a bit on the short side for
my ~96cm PBH, esp. if I used upright bars as I was planning to do.
However, Vince was really hesitant about the compromises of such a setup,
and mentioned something about a bigger frame they had up in the attic...he
goes and comes back with a NOS 64cm Quickbeam f/f, from the 2nd (Orange)
production run! This just seals the deal for me, since I've always loved
Quickbeams, and the orange was definitely my favorite color. Seemed pretty
once-in-a-lifetime, so I went for it.

I'm paying for the frame on a 4-month layaway, so I should take delivery in
April, and I'll be building it up myself. Can't wait.

Also had a great time visiting, saw Erik of Cosmic Country fame and Manny
who was mourning the loss of his Bleriot, but had still ridden by on his
old road bike. Got to ride what I think was a 62cm Bombadil with the
Bullmoose bars and fenders over Schwalbe Nobby Nic tires, which was a
totally bomber setup. The bars esp. were awesome, think I may have to go
that route on the QB when I build it up.

Pictures when i get it!
