Oh no... it can be set to give a nice view to the side, not straight back, even when mounted on the fork. I just think it would be a better view if the mirror were set in a generally horizontal (when viewed from above) orientation, as that would be even wider, and let me see cars both at my side, and behind me. I might have to bend the mirror arm, or use a Two Fish Lock-block to mount a separate shaft orthogonal to the fork. That would certainly be function over form.
