I have a medium saddlesack. I've ridden in heavy downpours and steady rains in the Boston area for my commute (~40 min). I have not had water get into the main compartment or side zip pockets. (In rains, I put the removable outer pocket into the main compartment. The zipper for the outer pocket is brass(?), and I wouldn't trust it to keep water out.)
