Ahhhhh! Life on the edge! A dodgy machine and dodgy terrain! And hearty
fair at the end. Naught much better than to be in the Shire herself.

When we were in Scotland, on Islay, we hired bicycles to tour my three
favorite distilleries (Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig), each a mile apart
from Port Ellen. Of course after each tour, you get a "wee dram", and of
course I asked to sample their whisky that wasn't available in the US, so I
ended up with 5-7 wee drams at each. Loose handlebars along the way and no
tools found me hammering my bike into a dry stone wall and toppling part of
it, then into the road as it wouldn't topple to gett the handlebars back in
their place. The sheep looked at me even more quizically than usual. After
enough drams, the curvy, hilly seaside road straightened and leveled out
for our return trip. I love the bikes for taking us on that memorable ride,
and they were the most frustrating bikes we've ever ridden. Grin.

With abandon,
Patrick
