I ended up using the SOS thumb shifters with Albas on my wife's Betty Foy. She just did not get the bar end shifters.
Using the Shimano barends in index mode with either as barends or with Paul/VO/IRD thumb mounts would be another way to go. Nice that you can switch the Shimano barends between index & friction depending on what the rider wants or needs. My wife is 5' 3" and likes the alba bars. I think she would want a stem with less extension for the Dove bars.
