If you roll right off of a high enough curb, you stand the risk of the
fenders striking the top of the curb as you descend, especially at *low*
speeds. I've had it happen. The trick is to get out in front of the curb
enough to avoid whacking the fender. So either you speed up a bit, or you
"jump" off.
