Ryan: I've got a padded sleeve for my Macbook and, in fact, after mulling the question over for a while, I'm wondering if a good backpack or courier bag won't be the best solution -- even though I generally don't like things on my back. That would alleviate any anxiety about bumpiness, and it would also allow me to ride the gofast and Fargo that don't have racks or big bags.
I had a very nice Seagull pannier that fit the laptop perfectly and had a sort of flat profile that stayed close to my back, but I traded it for a smaller but -- I thought at the time -- very nice, older Timbuktu because I prefer the waist cinch type of bag instead of the shoulder cinch type. I am trying to sell my Mac Mini (1.6X GHz, 4 mb ram with Mac keyboard) so having another computer at the other end to do a virtual connection is not in the cards. Suggestions? First: backpack versus courier bag? I've never used a good backpack on a bike. Second, which make/model for a 17" MB Pro?
