I had work commitments at noon and some "honey do's" before sunset, but I
managed to do the middle segment with Hugh, Curtis and Mike. Connecting at
mid ride went off without a hitch. Hugh called me from Black Mountain Road
and Carmel Mountain Road and 15 minutes later they were rolling into Santa
Luz where I was waiting.

We biked the bikes, talked the talk, and shared gratitude with each other
at the sheer joy of being able to do this kind of thing. Thank you, Hugh,
for coming up with the concept of a "Flash Ride" and being adaptable about
it. I'll go for it again.

My real camera was on the fritz due to low batteries (gotta watch for that
in the future) so I only have a few iPhone shots at
flickr<http://www.flickr.com/photos/20853610@N05/sets/72157637495855106/>.
Hugh and Curtis seem to be far more expert at this I am, so we will see.

In the last two images, Mike is walking, Curtis is riding. Not shown, but
Hugh rode a good part of a challenging
trail.<http://www.sandiegoreader.com/photos/2013/aug/13/51246/>
As for my self, I pushed, pulled and crawled up it with a bike in portage,
but it was well worth it.

This is only the second time I have been out with Rivsters, but I have to
say I really enjoyed it. These are some great guys to spend time with.

Now on to tomorrow: the one pot Trangia meal.

Thank you, Hugh, Curtis, and Mike.

Tom
