Last summer a buddy and I did a trip down the Northern California
coast. We planned to include the Lost Coast, but unluckily, we managed
to be riding during the only rainstorm of 2013, and our smooth tires
wouldn't have been able to handle the muddy conditions.

I still want to ride the Lost Coast. But now, I'm looking for a
mostly-dirt loop up there. My new Krampus will prefer dirt to
pavement, unlike my beautiful Atlantis.

Any suggestions?

As soon I get my Krampus, it's going to start burning a hole in my
pocket. I'm thinking bikepacking in Henry Coe, bikepacking at the
trail camps in Big Basin, and definitely a return to GGNRA, this time
with the 3" Tires of Confidence to allow me to ride all those
singletracks and the disk Brakes of Confidence so I don't have to keep
replacing rims.

It isn't a contest. Enjoy the ride.
