you can, but you need the right gas (argon from memory) and it's very difficult apparently

Actually, weld beauty depends more on the person doing the welding than the type of welder being used. You can lay down some very nice looking welds with a MIG welder if you have a steady hand and you can lay down some truly ugly welds with a TIG welder if you don't have a steady hand (and foot).
