I was also considering that idea, of detaching the generator and placing an
alternator on the shaft. I was also talking today with someone at work and
also said to use and inverter and have a battery bank and that act as my
onboard charger to the battery bank. But i do like the alternator idea, i
didn't even think of a 24v alternator either. I got the gen for free, so i
really wanted to incorporate the gen or atleast the engine. Also, for all
those asking why I'd like to use a gas setup, I'm looking for a long
running system, because we go offroading alot, and we are also gonna have
fun with it out on the trails and all. So no loss of power in our span
would be great. We may build 2 tanks if my younger brother is interested
and mess around on the trails and campsites. Thank you for the 24vdc idea,
I could find motors with good torque with that voltage and really put it to
the test. Anymore suggestions would be great, or even links to places I
could find these parts. Thanks all. again.
