I went with a Spectrum DX6i, 2.4Ghz, very happy with it, just get a bot receiver so that if it ever loses the radio signal it will stop, rather than keep the throttle position (as per an aircraft).
5 channels is probably all you need, and the DX5 is cheaper, I went with a DX6 in case I want another channel in the future for aircraft or whatever.
