(6) Correct! It's an old RAF joke based on the fact that when Spey Turbofans were fitted to Royal Navy phantoms it made them slower than other F4s despite the engines generating more thrust. The extra drag of the bigger intakes and fatter engines more than outweighed the increase in thrust. They did accelerate faster than a standard F4 and some sources claim they were better dog-fighters as the extra thrust helped them retain more energy in a turning fight. Not much good as the RN and RAF phantoms didn't have an internal gun. The complete jokes is; "What happens when you Spey a Phantom? Answer;It gets slow and fat . . ."
