I did not retain the "side swing" of the Tiger upper hull/turret because of the weight of those elements and the required stress on one side of the lower hull (which is hanging at the edge of the long fender, requiring side braces like I see on the photo below). I like T001 with a "car hood" opening because I can put the required hinges and strengthening brackets on the back plate, and since the back plate is fixed, I can install the E-switch well in view and easy access for Emergency power down. Also, I will add a small hydraulic arm for ease of opening, and securing it open. The idea of Derek on the Velcro turret removal is nice. I might be inspired by it on this Sherman M4A2. The plastic turret is light weight. Interestingly, the plastic frame of this Dragon Sherman takes paintball hits very well, even at close range. Instead I created a lip on the inside of the turret and put velcro on the lip which allows the turret top to be completely removed by pulling on the the scale ladder rungs used by the crew to climb up on the turret. Ladder rungs were made from a metal coat hanger. I also used this method to attach the top deck plates of the hull. I just don't like dealing with hinges and it still allows for full access to the interior of the turret and hull. If you copy T001 with your tigers you will have one less thing to worry about. Fantastic news about the Shermans. you will need to build them with the same robustness as your tigers. we cant have battles where the Germans always win.
