If intent on building your own TTS track, I'd suggest a thicker belt than 
the treadmill belting we typically use in our hobby (think grocery store 
checkout conveyor).  For the outside cleats, I'd recommend molded 
polyurethane cleats instead of steel or wood.  You will also need inside 
tracking tabs.
